Nissan Exec Suggests EV Charging Is Too Hard for Women

The Worst

Hey females, again me up: Is not it just the worst when you go to cost your electric powered vehicle and the cable is so darn significant. From time to time it feels like your dainty minimal lady arms are liable to just slide suitable off below the bodyweight.

That’s the bizarre kind of conversation Ivan Espinosa, global product or service strategist for Japanese automaker Nissan, apparently believes woman homeowners of the company’s all-electric powered Leaf have at, I never know, perhaps brunch or little one showers.

History Scratch

On Thursday, Automotive Information published an interview with Espinosa in which it requested him to share some of the lessons he’s acquired from the Leaf.

“One of them is the problem of charging,” Esponosa replied. “How easy or sophisticated this is has a huge effect on the EV consumer encounter. It is not just about time. It is very simple items this kind of as place of the charger and even the bodyweight of the cable. We have a good deal of woman Leaf motorists and in some cases the technologies that we use these days are not so welcoming for them.”

Ulterior Motive

As pointed out by Electrek, Esponosa’s commentary appears to have much less to do with really sharing some astonishing discovery Nissan designed about the woes of remaining a woman EV driver and extra to do with hyping up the company’s “solution” to the non-existent challenge: hybrid autos that never demand any charging, but that do demand the burning of local climate-destroying fossil fuels.

Now I’m not stating we must all start off tweeting the stereotypically woman-centered issues inherent with gas-guzzlers at Nissan — breaking a nail at the pump can simply destroy an if not great day of youngster-rearing and sandwich-earning, no? — but I’m also not not stating that.
